WSTOO Full Face Snorkel Mask Review

Anti-Fog, Explained

Many, if not all, full face snorkel masks are designed to not fog up while you are diving. How this is managed is an incredibly unique and effective design feature that regular snorkel masks definitely do not possess.

Full face masks have double air-flow breathing channels. This means you inhale and exhale through separate tubes, instead of directly back into the mask. This avoids mixing the gases and causing the mask to fog up.

In-Depth Review of the WSTOO Full Face Snorkel Mask

To test the WSTOO mask, we decided to head out to the best place for snorkeling, no not the Red Sea, but the beach. The main objective was to test the clarity of the lens, and how easily breathing was.

These full face masks are not recommended for intense and strenuous swimming, you can’t train for a triathlon wearing one, but for some relaxed snorkeling with the family, while you’re on holiday, they are absolutely ideal. The WSTOO mask did really well and scored top marks along with the GreateEver snorkel mask and Seaview 180 snorkel mask.

Size and Ease of Transport

Like many full face masks, the WSTOO is lightweight and very easy to transport. The folding snorkel design allows you to store the mask in a small backpack or a beach bag easily with any other gear you take with.

It may be a strong and sturdy mask, but it is still incredibly lightweight, and once it is in your pack or backpack, you won’t even notice it’s there. It will definitely not weigh you down if you are planning on hiking or taking a long walk to your snorkeling spot.

Our Rating – 5/5

Breathing

Once we got the masks on, even out the water, we discovered very quickly that breathing was easy and unobstructed. Like with every full face mask, you are able to breathe through both your mouth and nose.

This eliminates the problem of just being able to breathe through your mouth, like with a regular snorkel. This method can sometimes make you feel you are short of breath. We didn’t have that problem at all while using the WSTOO.

Visibility

The mask is fitted with a flat lens. This is different to some conventional full face masks, which are fitted with a curved lens. Through reviews and our own experiences, we can safely say that the fisheye effect these lens cause make you dizzy and can cause headaches.

The WSTOO is fitted with a flat lens. This lens provides you with a crystal clear field of vision. Considering the mask already offers a 180-degree field of view, you pair it with this incredible lens and it will make you feel like you aren’t wearing a mask at all.

Flooding Prevention

One of the main problems with a regular snorkel is that once water gets into it, there’s only one place for it to go. This can cause choking and ruin your day of snorkeling very quickly. The WSTOO has a clever little feature to prevent this.

If the breathing tube is submerged, a small ball floats to the top of it, blocking off any water from entering the tube. Once you rise above the surface again, that ball falls, and then you are able to breathe normally again. A small, but very effective feature.

Anti-Fogging

One of the best features of the WSTOO is the anti-fogging capabilities it possesses. Like we mentioned in the beginning, fogging is one of the biggest enemies of snorkelers, and having to defog your mask every ten minutes can get very tedious, very quickly.

To prevent the mask from fogging up, it is fitted with double-air flow tubes. These tubes are used to bring oxygen through the one, and then the other expels your carbon dioxide. Instead of all dirty air staying in the mask, it gets pushed right out immediately.

Folding Snorkel

The WSTOO has a folding snorkel, this may seem like a problem as you may think it is not a secure seal between the fold and breathing tubes. We found the seal to be incredibly secure, and at no point did we feel it was going to fail.

Our Rating – 5/5

Size and Seal

This mask can be used for both adults and kids above the age of 12. Sizing was not difficult, all we had to do was take a few measurements of some facial features and we got it right the first time. Finding the correct size then in turn also ensures there is a solid seal.

With regards to the materials used for the mask, it is made from incredibly high-quality, CE certified anti-allergy silicone. If you suffer from sensitive skin or skin irritation, this mask will not exacerbate the problem.

Our Rating – 4/5

Extras

The WSTOO is only fitted with one extra, but it is a brilliant one for anyone wanting to document their dive. The GoPro mount on the front allows you to record your dive, and the angle of it means where you look, you will record, no need for hands.

Our Rating – 5/5

Price

On the price scale, the WSTOO can be considered budget to mid-range. It is not the cheapest but it also most definitely not the most expensive. It is a brilliant mid-range mask that is ideal for anyone just looking for a fun piece of gear to take on holiday with them.

If you are looking for something that is at the top of the range, and at the top of their game, the Seaview Full Face Snorkel Mask is one of the best choices for you. High-quality build and materials make the mask worth the money, one of our personal favourites.
